The discourse around decentralization has often conflated distribution of technical infrastructure, with distribution of control, not only of resources but of power. Decentralization is increasingly seen as a goal in and of itself, rather than a means to a goal.  We will explore distribution of resources as secondary to the issue of distribution of power vis-a-vis governance mechanisms in practice as well as theory. Day 1 will kick off with a series of talks and case studies to orient participants in the real-world governance issues in the decentralized ecosystem, from the developers’ perspective to legal challenges and emerging community structures and norms.
