This workshop on Intermediary Liability seeks to identify the core legal and technical problems  and share any potential solutions and new understandings.

We start with  a high level overview of laws and government pressures requiring content removal, filtering, or blocking, and a discussion of those laws’ most likely interpretation or application to the decentralized web. Participants will gain an overview of the tensions between national and regional attempts to control the internet and the global nature of both the dominant internet and the decentralized web.

The workshop aims to provide a sense of what new regulatory regimes mean for us as developers, designers, advocates, and activists in the decentralized web context. This workshop also provides an opportunity for legal thinkers and decentralized web developers to build ongoing working relationships, and to  promote sensible and intelligent governmental policy and regulation.
